Wrinkle treatment creams and other anti-aging products make a lot of promises to consumers. However, it is all too easy to end up with a medicine chest full of half-used bottles and jars of products that don’t truly live up to their expectations. So you have to do your homework before you bring a new bottle to join the collection. The Daily Supplement team decided to review Retinol (Vitamin A) and green tea advanced wrinkle treatment crème by Derma E to help you find the right wrinkle cream for you.
Manufacturer’s Brief

Derma E is a well-known name in the beauty care industry. Focused on natural products, they have seen their products featured in some of the most popular women’s health and wellness magazines. They are also known for being paraben free, not using animal testing, and distributing only 100% vegetarian products.

Derma-e products can be found in most major retailers across the USA as well as online stores.

About the Product
Derma E’s Retinol (Vitamin A) and green tea advanced wrinkle treatment crème is designed to help skin retain its elasticity and health while fighting oxidation that can cause wrinkles. Rentinol, commonly called Vitamin A, can be used to promote cell renewal action. This helps younger looking skin come to the surface as old, dead, discolored, and wrinkled skin falls away.

The most common size for Retinol (Vitamin A) and green tea advanced wrinkle treatment crème is a 2 oz (56g) size. Suggested use is daily, morning and evenings. It generally retails for just under $20.

Ingredients
The main ingredients inRetinol (Vitamin A) and green tea advanced wrinkle treatment crème are the retinol and Green Tea extracts. Both are powerful antioxidants, and the green tea leaf used in the product is certified as USDA organic. Other helpful ingredients for organic skin care included in this product are Vitamin E and Vitamin D.

What We Think
Retinol (Vitamin A) and green tea advanced wrinkle treatment crèmepromises to deliver fresher looking skin that is wrinkle free. As a natural skin care item, it definitely meets the ingredients test, using a combination of powerful Vitamins and certified organic ingredients. The issue, of course, is does Retinol (Vitamin A) and green tea advanced wrinkle treatment crème work?

We think that it does live up to its wrinkle treatment promises. Many users reported that this was one of the first products they’ve ever not given up on in the middle of using it! Evidently the health benefits of green tea go well beyond simply drinking it to also nourishing your skin.

While super sensitive skin types may see some side effects of retinol in the form of increased peeling, for most the Vitamin E in the crème balances out the retinol to keep an over comfortable state for your skin.

Concluding Thoughts
While there is no secret potion to cure wrinkles, Retinol (Vitamin A) and green tea advanced wrinkle treatment crème does a nice job of making up for the harsh realities of aging. Skin will be smoother and look younger, all for a very reasonable retail price of less than $20. We’d love to hear your feedback, testimonials and reviews on Retinol (Vitamin A) and green tea advanced wrinkle treatment crème.

Those looking to reduce puffiness around their eyes and firm up their skin have to sort through dozens of all natural products. The difficulty is finding natural skin care products that work and don’t irritate your eye. You want a product that feels great all day long and does exactly what it promises. To help you make a smart choice, The Daily Supplement team took Pycnogenol Eye Gel with Green Tea Extract by Derma E for a test drive.

Manufacturer’s Brief
Derma E has been featured in Prevention and Healthy Living magazine for its work in the organic skin care industry. For both basic beauty products and advanced anti wrinkle creams, it offers 100% natural products that are made in a cruelty free environment. The crèmes, gels, and lotions are free of parabens and other irritating additives.

About the Product
The Pycnogenol Eye Gel with Green Tea Extract is available in pots and is smoothed onto the skin with your finger. The formulation contains antioxidants to prevent signs of aging in the skin, and it is also designed to fight puffiness and wrinkles.
Key claims of the product are that it can help rebuild collagen levels and make eyes look brighter by improving skin tone. The product also offers cooling properties to soothe irritated skin.

Ingredients
Pycnogenol is a very powerful antioxidant, beating Vitamin E by almost 50 times. Combined with Green Tea Extract, another powerful antioxidant, it is easy to see why this eye cream is a popular anti-wrinkle treatment.

In addition to the benefits of Green Tea and Pycnogenol, the formulation also includes Witch Hazel, an ingredient that fights redness and puffiness in the eye area. Aloe derivatives in the formula also help build up skin health and keep the area from becoming dry and papery.

What We Think
Pycnogenol Eye Gel with Green Tea Extract makes some pretty bold claims and after our testing we confirmed that it was universally well received. Many testers on our team thought that the formula worked wonders for their eyes although we did have a few people that reported little difference.

One tip to keep in mind is refrigeration. Those who kept the product in the refrigerator after opening it reported better results, especially for reducing some of the morning puffiness around the eye area. However, whether this was due to the cold or completely due to the cream is anyone’s guess.

Concluding Thoughts
While it may not be the perfect eye cream for everyone, Pycnogenol Eye Gel with Green Tea Extract by Derma E certainly won’t hurt you to try. It has a powerful blend of antioxidant ingredients, and can help you reduce puffy eyes. Since user results varied, the best way to know if it is your perfect eye cream is to give it a sample test. Watch for the product to go on sale to be able to test its merits at a reduced price.

We’d love to hear your feedback, testimonials and reviews on Pycnogenol Eye Gel with Green Tea Extract , so tell us what you think!

by TheDailysupplement.com

It would be lovely to have the time to go out and get a natural, golden tan. Of course, it would also be nice if the sun’s rays didn’t cause sunburns or aging of the skin. However, since the world is not full or time nor is the sun free of all harmful rays, natural sunless tanning products have sprung up to fill the gap.

There is some controversy surrounding these products, and they are not for everyone. However, you can decide for yourself whether you like the product and the look after you read this review of the Sun Golden Tan Sunless Tanning Lotion by Alba Botanica.

Manufacturer’s Brief

Alba Botanica is a natural beauty care manufacturing firm that offers a number of sunless tanning and sun care items. Alba insists on using certified organic products where possible and maintains a cruelty free and environmentally conscious manufacturing facility.

About the Product

The Sun Golden Tan Sunless Tanning Lotion by Alba Botanica is designed for at home use to create a golden glow from sunless tanning. The product is applied by hand to the face and body, and takes 15 minutes to dry although users should wait three hours before entering the water or showering to preserve the effect.

As a sunless tanning product, the Sun Golden Tan Sunless Tanning Lotion by Alba Botanica is in the middle of an ongoing controversy about tanning in general. The product does not require users to expose themselves to the elements to get a good tan and is considered much safer since it is made using all natural, organic and cruelty free ingredients.

Ingredients

The Sun Golden Tan Sunless Tanning Lotion by Alba Botanica is made from a blend of certified organic and all natural ingredients. Some of the main ingredients include safflower seed oil, sweet almond seed oil, echinacea purpurea leaf extract, green tea leaf, chamomile flower, ginkgo biloba leaf, calendula)flower extracts, aloe leaf juice, Vitamins E and A, and shea butter.

What We Think

The golden glow around our office indicates that the Sun Golden Tan Sunless Tanning Lotion by Alba Botanica has been a hit. Strong points included the ease of application, the even distribution of color, and a lack of harsh chemicals in the formulation.

The pineapple scent to the tanning lotion was a surprise, but it was welcomed over the chemical tang of some of the alternatives. We defiantly suggest you exfoliate and clean your skin before you apply sunless tanner and use as directed.

Concluding Thoughts

In the modern crunch between time and natural beauty, the Sun Golden Tan Sunless Tanning Lotion by Alba Botanica is a solid choice. It offers a nice tan without the sting of harmful chemicals.

Some of them are decidedly more effective than others! To help you allocate your skincare budget, Thedailysupplement.com team reviewed on the the top selling natural skin care products, Derma E’s DMAE Alpha-Lipoic-C-Ester Retexturizing Crème.

Why Derma-E:

Derma E is an established manufacturer of all natural skin care products. They’ve been in business for almost 25 years, and their skin care products routinely earn mentions in leading health and wellness magazines such as Prevention, Healthy Living, and Nutrition. Part of the appeal is Derma E’s commitment to all natural, paraben free, 100% vegetarian products created in a cruelty free environment.

Products from Derma E are also marketed under the variations DermaE and Derma-e Several products have earned awards as organic beauty picks, and items are available online and through major organic retailers such as Whole Foods stores.

Learn about DMAE Alpha-Lipoic-C-Ester Retexturizing Crème:

Derma E’s DMAE Alpha-Lipoic-C-Ester Retexturizing Crème is commonly sold in 2 oz (56 g) sizing. It is marketed as a moisturizing crème with anti-aging properties. Unlike other anti-aging skin care products, it doesn’t work through peeling, but rather by enriching the skin and improving overall skin tone on the face.

Ingredients under the microscope

The DMAE Alpha-Lipoic-C-Ester Retexturizing Crème attributes its benefits to the all natural power of its ingredients. The flagship ingredients are DMAE and Alpha Lipoic Acid, which have both been widely credited with fighting free radical damage and improving skin health.

Other ingredients in the crème include jojoba oil, C-Ester, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and Vitamin A. However, for advertising C-Ester in the title of the product, there is actually only a limited amount in the crème. Vitamin E, on the other hand, is well known for its skin improving properties, but its presence in the product is not advertised.

What We Really Think

In reading over the manufacturer’s claims about DMAE Alpha-Lipoic-C-Ester Retexturizing Crème, the core question that needs to be answered is, “Does DMAE Alpha-Lipoic-C-Ester Retexturizing Crème work?”

TheDailySupplement.com think the answer is an unequivocal yes, although results may vary. Naturally, there is no miracle crème that is going to erase every sign of aging. However, DMAE Alpha-Lipoic-C-Ester Retexturizing Crème does an excellent job of keeping skin well hydrated, reducing the appearance of fine lines, and improving skin tone and texture. The crème also seem to be particularly beneficial for dry and sensitive skin types. For more oily skin types, the cream provides moisturizing and toning power without added a greasy sheen.

Testers were mainly critical of the smell of the product, with a few finding the scent overly “soapy” as they used it. However, many others had no problem with the smell. Those with sensitive noses take note, and perhaps aim to test a sample on your skin before using it regularly.

Concluding Thoughts

The search for the perfect skin crème isn’t easy unless you’re a cosmeceutical chemist. However, with DMAE Alpha-Lipoic-C-Ester Retexturizing Crème, you can make considerable progress on the journey. With a price point of around $23 depending on the retailer, it is also a relatively inexpensive adventure in natural beauty supplementation for your skin.

The Codex Alimentarius Commission is an international organization, based in Rome, Italy, jointly run by the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) and the World Health Organization (WHO) of the United Nations. Codex’s published goals involve developing and adopting uniform food standards for its member countries and promoting free and unhindered international flow of food goods, thus eliminating barriers to food and providing food safety. Although these may sound like honorable objectives, there is a growing majority who feel that the proposed guidelines would severely restrict the availability of information about health products and goes against the core values of freedom of speech, freedom of choice, and freedom of information.

Codex was established after the United Nations commissioned the WHO and the FAO to develop a universal food code. Their intent was to “harmonize” regulations for dietary supplements worldwide and establish international safety standards for increased trade. But due to the influence of pharmaceutical interests, Codex began using its power to promote restrictions on vitamins and food supplements by limiting availability and dosages rather than focusing on food safety. These regulations would ultimately supersede the United States domestic laws.

According to John Hammell, a legislative advocate and the founder of International Advocates for Health Freedom (IAHF), this is a sampling of what we would have to look forward to if harmonization were to occur:

“If Codex Alimentarius has its way, then herbs, vitamins, minerals, homeopathic remedies, amino acids and other natural remedies you have taken for granted most of your life will be gone. The name of the game for Codex Alimentarius is to shift all remedies into the prescription category so they can be controlled exclusively by the medical monopoly and its bosses, the major pharmaceutical firms. Predictably, this scenario has been denied by both the Canadian Health Food Association and the Health Protection Branch of Canada (HPB)”.

Despite the potentially catastrophic outcomes, there is promising news to report. The Senate committee on Health, Education, Labor & Pensions (HELP) met on Tuesday, November 17th (2009), to discuss the FDA Food Safety Modernization Act. This hearing was to decide whether or not to amend the dangerous Codex provision. The outcome was an amendment to the bill that no longer requires the development of a plan “to harmonize requirements under the Codex Alimentarius”. Now the bill calls for development of a plan “on whether and how to harmonize requirements under the Codex Alimentarius”. Not a total victory, but definitely a step in the right direction.

The fight to retain the freedom we currently enjoy is still raging on. We must take this issue seriously before our inalienable rights are limited or taken away entirely.

Maxidus is manufactured by a company called Biogulf in Malaysia. According to the self proclaimed Maxidus Official Website it is a male sexual enhancement product that is a 100% herbal formula that starts working within 20 minutes and produces harder, longer lasting erections, enhances sex drive and desire, prolongs performance, and enhances sexual pleasure. The goal of this product is to alleviate many of the symptoms of sexual dysfunction. Another similar website claims “you’ll get more semen during ejaculation, more power, more penile hardness, and better ejaculatory control.” Sounds good to me. It also states that “you’ll be glad to know that Maxidus contains the exact same powerful ingredients as Libidus with an added Chinese herb called ‘Ku Gua’”. I’m not so sure that having the same ingredients as Libidus is a good thing, but I’ll get back to that in a minute.

Ingredients:

Each capsule of Maxidus contains the following ingredients – Eurycoma Longifolia, Flos Catharmi, Rhizoma Curcurmae Longae, Ginko Biloba, Herba Epimedii, Herba Cistanches, Astragalus Membranaceus, and Momordica Charantia (Ku Gua).

Something to Consider:

The only difference between the former product, Libidus, and the new product, Maxidus, is the addition of Ku Gua. This is significant because back in 2006, the FDA banned Libidus, and several other similar products (Zimax, Neophase, Nasutra, Vigor-25, Actra-Rx, and 4EVERON), stating that these are “illegal drugs that contain potentially harmful undeclared ingredients.” The FDA went on to say that the banned products contained chemicals similar to those found in the prescription drugs Viagra and Levitra. The FDA analyzed the products and determined that Zimaxx contained sildefafil, Viagra’s active ingredient, and that the other illegal products (Libidus included) contained chemical ingredients that were similar to either sildenafil or vardenafil, the active ingredient in Levitra. One could easily view this fact as a positive, however, since those other products are known to work well.

Consumer responses to the use of Maxidus seem to be favorable although inconsistent, citing that it didn’t produce the same results every time and that the lead time for it to work varied between 30 – 90 minutes.

The final word on Maxidus:

I like the name Maxidus, it inspires visions of Roman gladiators and makes me feel like I could “joust” with my manhood. When I tried Maxidus, the urge to drag wenches back to my room for servicing was overwhelming. However, common sense and several restraining orders prevented me from doing that. The bottom line is that is did ultimately work for me and what’s her name seemed to have a good time as well. My only caution would be the legality of the product due to it’s checkered past with the FDA.

(The Daily Supplement) The day we have all been waiting for may have arrived. Drinking beer might actually be good for you. A recent study suggests that an ingredient in beer, called xanthohumol, may help prevent prostate cancer. The compound xanthohumol is a phytochemical found in hops (a natural flavoring agent in beer) and is known to block testosterone, which is linked to a role in the development of prostate cancer.

The results of the study were presented at an American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) conference in Houston on December 9. ”We hope that one day we can demonstrate that xanthohumol prevents prostate cancer development, first in animal models and then in humans, but we are just at the beginning,” Dr. Gerhauser said.

The study is new and more research will be required to determine the true effectiveness and viability of beer as a potential solution. I plan to be an early adopter just in case it works. And even if it doesn’t, I’m already enjoying well documented benefits of alcohol - improved eyesight and decision making.

RockHard Weekend

(The Daily Supplement) The FDA notified consumers that RockHard Weekend by RockHard Laboratories, a product sold as an “all natural” male enhancement , contains sulfoaildenafil (an analogue of sildenafil found in Viagra) an FDA-approved DRUG used for the treatment for Erectile Dysfunction. SURPRIZE! The presence of sulfoaildenafil makes RockHard Weekend an unapproved drug and harmful to users that are unaware of interactions. This undeclared drug ingredient may interact with prescription drugs including nitrates like nitroglycerin, and cause dangerously low blood pressure. But if you die, at least they’ll have a handle to carry you out of the building with…

Seriously, what does a guy have to do to get a little “natural” stiffy around here without taking some fake Viagra? This is the type of activity that “makes it hard” (pun intended) for reputable manufacturers to separate themselves from the scamsters.

RockHard Laboratories advises any customers in possession of RockHard Weekend to return any unused product for a full refund to the company directly. Customers can call 1.800.562.0543 (yes its a real number) for instructions on the return and refund process. I’m assuming the return process involves placement of the faulty erection into some kind of repository for eventual disposal.

RockHard Laboratories issued a statement that said they are committed to improving their product (new fake Viagra) and avoiding future recall (paying off the FDA?) issues by sourcing higher quality raw ingredients (hide it better) and expanding testing (by their cousin Vinny). RockHard Laboratories promises its customers the highest possible quality (did you see the video? that’s quality alright) and welcomes the recall process as further evidence of their commitment to the brand, products and consumers. So please feel free to send a sample to the FDA? Ya right…

Is it just me or does RockHard Labs sound like a place where old hunting dogs go to to be stuffed when they die? I’d say stay far away from this one!

Hard times for Stiff Nights

The Daily Supplement team found yet another FDA ban on so called “natural” male enhancement pills. Stiff Nights, manufactured by Impulsaria, LLC of Grand Rapids Michigan, the self proclaimed strongest and supposed “natural” male enhancement pill was pulled from shelves across the country today after the FDA warned consumers that Stiff Nights contains sulfoaildenafil, a chemical similar to sildenafil, the active ingredient in Viagra. Sulfoaildenafil may negatively interact with nitrates and other prescription drugs taken by heart patients and cause potentially fatal drops in blood pressure, the FDA said. The use of the drug in Stiff Nights makes the product an illegal and unapproved drug

It was only just a year ago when owner Jamie Green told AVN Novelty Business “We took our time formulating Stiff Nights because we wanted a product that would give guaranteed repeat business and not get pulled from the market,” http://business.avn.com/articles/29837.html

Attempts by the Daily Supplement team to contact Mr. Green were unsuccessful. The real issue here is an assumed level of product safety by unknowing consumers. “Because this product is labeled as an ‘all natural dietary supplement,’ consumers may assume it is harmless and poses no health risk,” stated Deborah Autor, director of FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research Office of Compliance. “In fact, this product is illegally marketed and can cause serious complications.”

If you recall, The Daily Supplement reported the possible risk during a Stiff Nights product review months ago. http://www.thedailysupplement.com/2009/09/18/the-hard-facts-about-stiff-nights/

I don’t know about you, but there are only a few scenarios that I can think of in which I would risk serious health problems for an erection. Those scenarios would include Pam Anderson, the Girls Next Door twins, and any combination of 3 Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders.
